Grass is probably Minecraft's most iconic block (suck it, Mycelium!) Along with cobblestone, it was one of the first two blocks in the game. Originally the grassy top texture was used on all sides, but it wasn't long until the block was given a side texture too, showing the dirt below. Top texture of leaves holding from the hand is gray and yellow for the tropical leaves. Grass blocks in the same way, also have a gray top texture.
If you place a grass block in a snowy biome, it will have the bluish-green tint. The block only turns white if there is snow on top. View, comment, download and edit grass block Minecraft skins. I just logged onto minecraft and the grass blocks are really strange. All the sides of the block except for the bottom are the top of the grass block's texture. I do have optifine, so I feel like I might have accidentally flipped a switch, or something else.
