Hi there, Graeme,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. I understand you have a Logitech MX Anywhere 2s mouse that is not working with your MacBook Pro, though it does work with your son's Mac mini. I'm happy to help!

I see that your Mac is currently running macOS 10.12.6 Sierra. According to the technical specifications on Logitech's website, the MX Anywhere 2s mouse requires macOS 10.13 High Sierra or later to function properly: Logitech MX Anywhere 2s Multi-Device Wireless Mouse Designed to Work Anywhere. This is likely why it works on your son's Mac Mini (which I see running macOS 10.14 High Sierra), but not your MacBook Pro.

  1. Using Logitech Flow, you can work on multiple computers with a single MX Master 3. You can use the mouse cursor to move from one computer to the next. You can even copy and paste between computers, and if you have a compatible Logitech keyboard, such as MX Keys, the keyboard will follow the mouse and switch computers at the same time.
  2. The mouse uses Logitech’s Darkfield laser tracking, which provides 1000 dpi on average of accuracy and the ability to track on virtually every surface, and it can also work across Macs and iPads.

To resolve the issue you are experiencing, you can update your macOS software. Your MacBook Pro appears to be compatible with the latest macOS version of 10.15 Catalina, this is the available version you can upgrade to: How to upgrade to macOS Catalina - Apple Support.
